It may not be officially spring yet, but the days are getting longer, the sun is feeling stronger, and spring will soon be here…soon we can shed our heavy coats, tights and boots, soon we can wear a blazer as our outerwear – hooray! But in the meantime, how do you dress? As I learned from Ginger, “always dress according to the weather,” so that’s where you start…
For a raw and rainy work day last week, I started with layers that would be warm, yet in a color palette that was light – no black for a change!
The ivory skirt and turtleneck are both by Theory, yet bought years apart…it just goes to show you how much you can do when you buy quality basics – which is actually another lesson from Ginger. 😉
This jacket is another oldie but goodie – it is a very lightweight faux leather that can be worn year round…it is a nice alternative to a traditional blazer when you are going for more of a relaxed look…
The Theory turtleneck is also lightweight…it is a finely ribbed merino wool, that is fitted but not skin tight…perfect for under jackets.
And a perfect outfit for a belt! At first I tried on one of my wider belts, but with the length of the sweater, it sat too low and looked too heavy. This Cole Haan belt with sterling buckles added some western flair and it sat just right, low on the waist…it also has sentimental value as it belonged to Ginger…
Wearing the same color on the top and bottom is very flattering on us petite gals, giving the illusion that you are taller…it also can give the illusion that you are wearing a dress…pairing separates in the same color is a sophisticated look that instantly elevates an outfit.
With an ivory outfit, this Gucci backpack stands out beautifully! (A great Revolve find!)
Ok, time to hit the road…it’s in the 40’s and it’s raining cats and dogs…what the heck do I wear???
You guessed right! My Candy Costas Raincoat!
Happy Monday all! Have a great week!
